At the time of his marriage (1873) he was Poor Law clerk living at 25 Haverstick St.
On 11 April 1885, he bought a family burial plot for £3 3s 0d in the Highgate Cemetery on the occasion of the burial of their child Harold Pointer Bond. At the time he was living at 228 Tufnell Park Rd, Islington.
In 1901 Census he was living with his family in the Parish of St George, Islington, London.
At some time he was an assistant clerk to the Westminster Union.
Joseph married Ann Pointer, daughter of George Thomas Press Pointer and Elizabeth, on 24 Jun 1873 in St Matthews, City Road, N1, Middlesex. (Ann Pointer was born in 1852 in Horsham St Faith, Norfolk, died on 11 Apr 1923 and was buried on 14 Apr 1923 in Highgate Cemetery.)
